let's get to know each other

I’m Dr. Amanda McGough.

I am a native North Carolinian and my family likes to say that I went around NC collecting degrees! The degrees have all led me to the best job in the world - Being a psychologist! I truly consider it an honor to sit with clients and help them see the possibilities in their lives and how they can reach their full potential. I aim to create a safe, warm space where you can feel heard and understood. I consider myself to be a member of your team- sometimes coaching, sometimes cheering and always supporting.

I have extensive training and experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). These evidence-based orientations allow me to help my clients of all ages identify patterns that aren’t working for them and empower them with skills to change those patterns.

My approach to therapy is collaborative, straightforward, nonjudgmental and strengths-based.

My passions beyond being a psychologist include spending time with my husband and 2 kids (9th and 5th grade), being with friends, playing with my goldendoodle Noodles, laughing at comedy shows, traveling (the picture behind is one I took on a family trip to Hawaii), and volunteering with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
